Est une espece de bois escorcé, rougeastre, qui est apporté des Indes (combien qu'il en soit de couleur blanche, et de blafastre) lequel selon ce que disent les marroquins, est de froide qualité au tiers degré, et desseichant au second, empeschant les defluxions, voyez Matthiole sur le 1. liv. de Dioscoride. ch. 19. C'est un mot pur Arabique, fait de cestuy Arabe, {{t=h}}çandal{{/t}} que R. David In lib. rad. et R. Himmanuel, in commentariis disent estre ce bois aromatique, que les Hebrieux appellent {{t=h}}ahâlôt{{/t}}
